Stand-Up Follow-Up
Many people want to hear my comedy act, but here's the funny part: I don't really have a set routine, I have a few bits I know I'm gonna do and I mix it up. So to get the full effect of a stand-up routine you have to see it live with an audience. So if you want to see my act, I'm sorry but you'll have to either get me an audition at wise guys or come to the grind in Cedar. No, I probably will tell you some of it sometime, but you'll have to remind me.

Retraction
Okay, so Jayna pointed out that my south park avatar is wearing a pink triangle shirt which it turns out is a lesbian symbol. Let me assure you all that I have not given up men, I was picking shirts and I picked the only pink one. I would change it, but I've already saved the picture and I don't feel like replacing the post right now. Once again, I'm not a lez. In fact, this discourse reminds me of my latest list.
As some of you know and most of you don't I enjoy making lists, mostly of sitcoms, actors, movies comedians and so on. This latest list is the list of celebrities I'd like to hug and why.

- Donald Southerland (just so he'd stroke my hair and I could listen to his voice) (and for shear bad-ass factor)
- Ioan Gruffudd (No explaination required grrrrrrrrr)
- Paul Giamatti (he's like a teddy-bear, a badastic teddy-bear with heart)
- Pattrick Dempsey (again, do I need to explain that one?)
- Freddie Stroma (Young, cute and British spells grrrrrr)
- Micheal Wilding (Posthumously) (Rent "Under Capricorn" and watch the man work! Why Elizabeth Taylor dumped him, I'll never understand)
- Allen Rickman (Before you judge me watch Sense and Sensibility 1995)
- Hugh Jackman (Cuddleable in general, AND he SINGS!!!!!)
- Ian MacKellen (It's the voice)

Killer Leaf!

So, my friend Leslie and I went to see "The Elephant Man" on Friday night. It was an awesome play! But, better still, on our way back to the dorms I found this giant leaf! Look at that thing it's bigger than my face. We can't figure out what kind of tree it must have been. We think maybe it was a horse-chessnut tree but we don't know, but look at it! It's magnifiscent!

New Post Finally
If anybody is still checking this blog after my recent neglect here is finally a new post. So here are some of my most recent adventures:
- I went to the big Haloween Party at the University and saw a guy who could lift a table with his mind.
- I discovered the magic of cable TV when I won a free TV at a family home evening activity.
- I stayed up most of the night working on a project that was due today only to find out that it's actually due on Wednesday.
- And I got called back for a directing project play.

Sorry...

Okay, sorry I haven't posted in a while here are the things that have happened lately. Here's a picture of the jack-o-lantern my family carved at family home evening. We named him Jack, because he's the pumpkin king, but I think this is pretty close to what it's going to look like when prince Charles takes the thrown.
Other than that I tried out for two plays and didn't get a part in either one. I'm going home tomorrow, so that should be fun.

Yet Another Birthday Post
So yesterday was a frickin' fun birthday. Some of my friends and I went to Appleby's (hurray for ultimate trios). They made me a princess crown out of tin-foil and ribbons and made me a card from a coloring book page. It was fun. Embarrassingly, the waiters sang to me and gave me a free ice-cream. It was pretty great. Thanks again everyone for the birthday maloveys!

Happy Birthday To Me!
Today is my nineteenth birthday! It's been a pretty good day. I've received cards in the mail from mom and Bethany and calls from all of my siblings, and several of my friends from the EC. Thank you everyone for remembering my special day. My institute class sang happy birthday to me today and it was pretty embarrassing. Thanks again you guys!

Jobs A-go-go
I was sooo siked today when I went into career services at SUU and there were about a million new jobs posted on the board! I wrote down information for a bunch of them and went applying! I applied to be a cook/prep cook at The Bard's Food and Drink Establishment (that's a mouthful) and I applied to be an executive assistant at a place called All American Security Corps. I handed the guy my application and he asked me to come back for an interview tomorrow, so wish me luck!

S.O.S
Okay, so I knew it might be hard to live with a roomate who is habitually messy. No one told me how hard it would be to live with one who is a clean freak in an almost Howard Hughesian way. My roomate is so obsesses with clean and having our kitchen look clean that it's almost counter-productive. My first week here she was sick and I and two of my roomates left some dishes in the sink to wash later. While we were gone she washed them, and I thought, "Oh, yeah, that's great, go touch all the things I eat off of with your germy hands." Last night I left some pasta to cool on the counter before I could put the lid on and put it in the fridge. I kinda forgot about it (my bad) and left it there. She knocked on my door and said, "did you want me to clean up your stuff?" I said, "oh, no, I'm sorry, I forgot about it. I was waiting for it to cool before I put it in the fridge." she was all like, "You can put it in the fridge when it's piping hot." "Well, yeah," I said, "but you can't put a lid on it when it's hot." "Why not?" she said. "Because it'll like, mold and breed germs," I answered. "Well, I didn't learn that in my cooking class but whatever," she shrugged.
See what I mean? Someone tell me what to do before I kill the poor girl.

A Long Way From Scotesburg
Here are some pictures of my new apartment. As you can see, it's much nicer than my Logan apartment. That's why this post is entitled: A long way from Scotesburg. No lead paint! Check out that couch, it's lether! (Okay, it's nagahyde)
My beautiful kitchen.
Washer and dryer inside the apartment.
My room, smaller and nicer than my wasatch hall room.
Check it out, I have a sink in my room!

Michael Ballam the revenge!!!!
Sorry I haven't posted for a while I've been devlishly busy. But the other day I was in the music building and I saw a flyer for a girl who teaches voice lessons. And it said that she sang with the Utah Festival Opera. There was a big pull-quote endorsement for her by: who else? None other than the man himself....Michael Ballam *strongbad accent*. Seriously! I thought moving to the opposite end of the state would free me frome the reaches of the Baron of the Bravado but appearently none of us will ever escape the dominion of...Michael Ballam!

First Day Of School
Well, school starts tomorrow, and I'll level with you guys, I'm as nervouse as a hemopheliac in a razor factory. I have a class at 8:00 in the morning and I'm beginning to wonder about the wisdom of that decision. I'm still looking for a job. I have applications at Verizon wireless, Maurices and La Fiesta Mexican Restraunt. Thanks everyone for the job tips and a special thanks to Cammie and Bethany for the resume help. I've started a new blog solely devoted to the plays I've done, so if you feel like looking at some fun pictures of me getting my act on just click on the picture of William Shakespeare on my side bar. It's looking like a busy week ahead so pray for me :)

Freaking the Frickity Heck Out!
Okay, I know I haven't posted in like forever and a day, but believe me it's been crazy. I came home from Logan on August 3rd, then I went to the James Taylor concert at Usana Amphitheatre the next day. After that I spent two whole days watching the HBO John Adams series on DVD. I then spent two weeks sleeping, reading, hangin' with me peeps and getting me afairs in order (yes I said 'me afairs). This included getting new glasses, working at the High School a few times and getting the oil changed in my car. Now I know you're sitting there thinking "Gees, why didn't you post in all that spare time?" Simple answer, no internet. There is no wifi in my house. So anywho, now I'm sitting in my apartment in Cedar City typing this post and wondering wear I should put my foodstuffs. If anyone is wondering my new address is

Ladies and Gentlemen, Michael Ballam

This handsome fella is Michael Ballam, opra star, actor, philanthropist, mormon, and founder of the Utah Festival Opera. Many of you will recognize him from his role as Satan in the temple movie. What most of you don't know is that Michael is conceited. I had the oportunity of meeting Michael once, he was perfectly nice but he confided in me his secret love of peacocks, which was a little gooney. Most people at lyric are not fond of Michael because he thinks he's rather cool. So lately Michael Ballam has become the subject of many jokes among the apprenti and tech crew at lyric. Most of these jokes are led by our good friend Trent Bean. Who says Michael's name in the voice of Strongbad from homestarrunner. Recently Trent fell ill to a debilitating genetic defect in.....well....in a place you'd rather not have a genetic defect. So my associate Jessica Jackson decided to get him the ultimate get-well gift: an autographed picture of Michael Ballam. So she persisted in calling the opera until she finally spoke to the man himself. He agreed to leave an autograph at the Dansante for her. So we went and got it this morning, we got Becca and Jeremy, put the picture in a frame and took it to Trent. I hope to post video of his reaction as soon as I can figure out how.

My Hair
Yesterday I got fitted for a wig. I had to have my hair in pin curls to put the wig on. So when we took the wig off and the pin curls out my hair was all fluffy. So Leslie, the costume designer who was wigging me decided to do my hair all cute and funny. Then she said "hang on one second we're gonna put ribbons in your hair!" I thought it was fun, so instead of redoing it when I got home I actually left it that way when I went to work the show:)

Crazy
This week is crazy. After a long trip to the Shakspeare festival and a largely free weekend, we have to put our noses back to the grindstone. We have a show every night, plus change-overs. I was at the theatre until 1:30 last night changing the set. We're in rehearsal every morning, the shop every afternoon and the theatre every night. We've also had a number of really strange experiences such as watching Fred try to be hip, and painting huge swastika banners while listening to Neil Diamond. Oy vey!

Last night Brandt, his girlfriend Ashley, and his work friend Bryce came up to Logan to take me on a date. It was loads of fun. We ate at sizzler then went bowling then watched a movie a Jayna's house. It was so much fun. It was good to see Brandt and Ashley again and finally win at bowling for once ;). Sorry, I didn't take any pictures.

Thumbs Down.
This week I got to go to the Utah Shakespearean festival. It was great! We got to see all six shows, plus a special backstage tour and the New Excecutive Director invited us to his house. I don't have any pictures from that trip because I was too busy having fun to take any. So I got to see six wonderful plays and I couldn't wait to get back to Logan and see the Utah Festival Opera do Into The Woods. As pretty much all of you know this has been one of my favorite shows since I was about four, and I played one of the lead roles in my high schools production of it. Sadly, I was disappointed. The actors were all opera singers so they didn't feel the need to over enunciate. None of them were really in touch with the real emotion of the play, they were like card-board figures or cartoons. The relationships between the characters were badly underdeveloped, and worst of all, they had a light on backstage, and from where I was sitting you could see the tech people walking around backstage. I'm very rarely disappointed with a professional production because I'm fairly easily entertained, but seriously, acting-wise Renn Hatt and the Greenriver High ensemble did a better job. I will say this: The princes were very good, so was the narrator, Jack was alright and the steward was alright. No one else really believed what they were saying and red riding hood was probably in her mid to late fifties, dead ringer for a ten-year-old girl right? It rather reminded me of Joann Arnold as Peter Pan. I'm hoping to see 1776 and I'm hoping it will be better. But if you want to see Into the Woods I say wait until October and go see it at Hale.

Tough One
Okay, There have been no new posts for a while because this week has been a tough one. I thought they had turned off the wireless in my building because I couldn't find the signal anymore but really my wireless enabling switch wasn't turned on. I don't know how it got turned off, but it's on now and I'm back on line. Yay! So I hit some land marks this week. Here's a list of my new experiences.
- I saw a chahuahua with both front legs in a cast. The poor little guy jumped off the theatre roof. It's a miracle he didn't die.
- I discovered the only man in this world hairier than Brandt. His name is Richie and he's an actor at the lyric. He's a cool guy, swarthy, but really cool. (He likes arrested developement)
- I saw Corey Ewan shirtless (I refuse to elaborate.)
- I saw Corey Ewan in a dress. So did most of the geriatric crowd of Logan. I know some of you have mixed feelings about Doctor Ewan but I must say, the man can rock a dress.
- I sprayed vodka on a set of boobs (Corey's fake boobs for his dress). And don't worry the vodka was very diluted. Sometimes we spray it on the clothes to kill the germs after a show.
- I asked for a condum for the first time and it worked, no one got pregnant. Hee hee. We put condums on the mic pacs so they don't get damaged by the sweat. I had to go and get one for a girl's mic pac.
So all in all it's been crazy.

Super Techies

We were sitting in the green room one night during a performance of The Dresser and somebody said "If you could have a super power what would it be? What would you're name be and what would be your secret identity?" So we all went around the room making up fantasy superhero alteregoes. My power was stretchiness, my name was Sprouse Reitz (yes like the store) and I was a shoe salesman by day. Trent, a techy from the university said he would be a super villain who could read and control minds named,"the big Mamma Jamma". He drew this picture. On the left is his rendering of the big Mamma Jamma and on the left is Sprouse Reitz. Yes, we're nerds, but we're at peace with that.

Not Drama Camp
This has been the craziest week of my life! Everyday this week we've had class at 10:00 work at 1:00, tech call at 6:00 or 6:30 and changeovers after the show. I've been at the theatre every night from about 6:00 to at least midnight, once I was there 'til a quarter to 1. The set for Beau Jest is so large and crazy and complicated that usually when we leave the tech crew is still working. The first time we put it up they were there until 4:00 in the morning and they still weren't finished. We had to come in the next day and help them finish. Lately they've been there until at least 2 getting all the props in place (there are a million idiotic little props). Last night we were all sorts of excited because we actually got the set for Beau Jest down and the set for Dresser up by 12:15 with the whole tech crew, all the apprenti and extra help from Fred, Luann, and Cory Ewan. (By the way, Cory Ewan's here). Today we don't have class because Fred decided to be an angel and not make us come to class, but we have a matinee at 2 and an evening show at 7:30 (I have to be there at 6:20) and a change over afterward. Then tomarrow I go to church at 10:00 then pass out for a while, so if anyone calls me tomarrow and I don't answer it's because I'm temporarily dead. See Cammie, not drama camp.

Frozen Crack
I discovered the goodest thing ever. I went to Hastings to return a movie and I wandered over to the coffee counter to see what they had instead of an Italian soda, but while I was looking at the menu I saw the words "frozen hot chocolate." I asked the girl at the counter if that was good and she said, "Yeah, I know some people who call it frozen crack because they get it every day." So of course I had to get one and it was lovely! Hurray for Hastings!

Oh Sweet Sweet Bric.

This is my associate, Bric Slade. In this picture Bric's teeth are blue. Why are his teeth blue, you ask? Because Bric drank food coloring. Why did Bric drink food coloring? Simple, someone dared him too. This was a weird night for Bric. He was really hyper and he ate a flower. Then Jeremy, another apprentice, came up to him with a bottle of food coloring and said, "Hey Bric, I dare you to drink this." "Is it safe?" Bric asked. "It's food coloring, of course it's safe," Jeremy said. So after a moment of hesitation Bric put a few drops in his mouth and when he smiled because it tasted funny, his teeth were blue. So there you go. It was either that or he made out with a smurf. Believe what you want.

Stunt of the Week
So there's this enormously muscly stage crew guy named Ben, and about two weeks ago my fellow apprentice JR offered me two bucks if I'd go up to him and say "hold me". So Monday night I was watching a rehearsal of Baeu Jest with JR and he gave me he two bucks in advance if I promised to do it by the end of the season. So Tuesday after work we were getting ready to leave and I went up to Ben and said, very casually, "Say Ben? Would you just...hold me?" He looked at me really weird-like for a second then said, "Uhh, I can't actually touch apprentae." and I said, "Oh no, it's cool it's cool I just had to ask." Then we all started yellling for JR and Ben and his supervisor, Matt, were looking at me funny. I explained that I had been given two bucks to say that to Ben. And Ben was like, "Oh, okay. I just can't..."and I was like,"it's cool, you didn't have to do it I just had to say it." Then Matt said, "You know, actually she is 18 sooo..." and Ben said, "Well, in that case, do you wanna go to my place." We were all laughing and I said, "No dice buddy, I got my two bucks I'm out of here." And I left. On the way out I came across JR and I said, "Hey JR, I did it." He said, "No way! Did he hold you." I told him no and he was like "Aw man." So now you know the crazy sort of shenanagans I get into up here :) Now I just hope I don't get fired for fraternizaion. JK, I won't get fired.

Siamese Twins

Most of you have already seen this picture but I thought it would make a great blog post so I put it up. Yes, this is a picture of me and Jayna wearing one pair of pants. I was hanging out at Jayna's a few days after I got here. She was wearing a huge pair of old sweat pants and she said, "Wow, these are huge, I bet we could both fit in these." So we decided to see if we could. And we could. It was hilarious because I had to sit on the counter and slide down into the back of the pants, then Mike wanted to get a picture of us agianst the white wall so it would be easier to see that we were wearing the same pants. So we had to walk all the way from the counter over to the wall. Not easy! We almost fell over a few times and uncontrolable giggling ensued. So of course we had to use our cell phones to send this to our mom, all our siblings and my friend Tanner. It was great!
Would you wear this?

So last night I had the night off. I had nothing else to do so I went to the mall. I was passing by a store I'm sure you know of called "Motherhood" and I saw these. In case you're not sure what you're looking at; they're daisy dukes.....maternity daisy dukes. That thought was so hilarious to me I had to snap a picture with my phone and show the blogging comunity. Hey Cammie, the next time you pop out a Pollastroling I expect to see you in a pair of these ;)

Scotes Anyone?
The dorms they put us in are not all that glamorous, okay, they're not at all glamorous, okay, they're kind of scotey. Here are some pictures of where I'm living on my whirl-wind big city adventure. Above is our bathroom. It's literally a bath room because it only hase a show/bathtub and a sink. Our toilet is in another room.
This is what you see when you walk into our dorm. And there's me taking a picture of what you see when you walk into my dorm.
My kitchen. That's my roomate, Rabecca trying to hide from the camera.
Nasty, peely, smudgy, possibly lead-based paint. If I die up here it won't be because I got hit by a car or fell of a stage and broke my neck or cut off my hand with a chop saw. It will be because I accidentally licked he wall in my sleep and got lead poisoning.
My kitchen, close up.
This is what my bed looks like most of the time. I do clean it occaisionally but ya know, whatever.
A Rather Boring Post
Sorry, this is a rather boring post since I have no picture to go with it and no really great news other than the fact that I am still alive. News-wise I have to report that I am now working front of house on one show here at the Old Lyric and helping with costumes for another. Next week we have set changes every night and that's going to suck goat cheese at midnight through the nose witha coffee straw. But today I had the day off so I went to the mall with some of the other apprentices and then watched youtube videos for hours. It was great! As my sister Cammie says, "Hi diddly dee! An actor's life for me!"

Our Favorite Scottsman
Shortly before I left home to move to Logan there was a very cute Scottsman living in my house. His name is Raymond Murray and he was Brandt's only Scottish convert. We took him all over the desert from the Wedge, to the Dinosaur footprint, to the Buckhorn Panel to Swing bridge and the Government Caves. He loved it! Above is a picture of Brandt, Raymond, and me at the Wedge. Below are some other cool pictures of our adventure.
